Our Work

A cowboy riding a horse herds cattle across a grassy plain during sunset, with dark clouds and a partly cloudy sky.

Farmers and ranchers are making tough calls today about water, development, transmission lines, energy projects, rising costs, and whether the land stays in the family. Lawmakers and local leaders are making decisions that will shape private land for decades to come. Because these working lands support resources and livelihoods far beyond their fence lines, the outcome touches every Texan.

We start with the problem as landowners live it. Then we gather the facts, translate complex policy, science, and market questions into plain guidance, and bring the right people together to test real answers. The goal isn't another report on a shelf — it's better options and practical solutions that get put to work.

Partnership is essential to our work. We work across political, geographic, and organizational lines while maintaining the independence needed to pursue credible, science-informed, and economically workable solutions. By bringing together the public, private, academic, and nonprofit partners, we move strong ideas into action.

Support Our Work

Texas needs strong private lands and strong landowners to keep them that way. Your support helps us take on emerging challenges, produce research people can use, and move solutions from idea to action for the benefit of all Texans.
