Blair Calvert Fitzsimons
From 2006 – 2020, Blair Fitzsimons served as the founding CEO of the Texas Agricultural Land Trust (TALT), whose mission is the conservation of Texas’ working lands. Under Blair’s leadership, TALT protected more than 235,000 acres of farms and ranches from development. She also spearheaded several innovative policy initiatives that benefit working lands and created an outreach strategy to communicate the importance of private lands conservation, including a successful campaign entitled “No Land No Water.” Since leaving TALT, she has served on the boards of the national Land Trust Alliance and the Sand County Foundation.
With South Texas ranching roots, Blair shares a passion for conservation with her husband, Joseph, former Texas Parks & Wildlife Commission chairman. In 2015, the Fitzsimons were named the Harvey Weil Conservationists of the Year. Blair has also received the Texas Wildlife Association’s Conservation Leader and Texas Outdoorsman of the Year awards, as well as Audubon Texas’ Women in Conservation award. Today she divides her time between the Calvert Brothers and San Pedro ranches in South Texas and their horse farm in Sheridan County, Wy.
